SING & PLAY FOR TODDLERS:
45-minute weekly Music & Movement classes are for 0-5 year old children attending with their parent(s) and/or caregiver. Classes include singing, musical instruments, games and props that encourage your child to develop their musical ear, steady beat, rhythm, language, small motor skills, and creative movement. During the school year classes are offered on Saturday mornings through the Davis Community Education program. Free classes are available on Fridays during the summer at the Farmington Library. Please text or e-mail for details.
SING & PLAY THE PIANO:
60-minute group lessons for young beginners, 6-9 years old. This is a bridge program between an early childhood music education program like “Sing & Play for Toddlers” and PMA’s “Piano Progress” group lessons. These active lessons include singing, drumming, group games, ear-training and learning to play the piano by learning the musical patterns of the song. Parents observe the last 10 minutes of class. There are 3-4 students per class and 38 lessons per year. Parental help at home is requested.
PIANO PROGRESS:
60-minute group lessons are designed for students in method book levels. Students are given enough time to work on the skills they will need for home practicing to be successful. The Piano Marvel digital program, included with tuition, will be used during class and at home so that students are able to learn notes and rhythms correctly, giving the teacher time to teach other important musical skills. Groups will consist of 3 students learning individually on separate keyboards with headphones. There are 38 lessons per year.
PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS:
30-minute private lessons are intended for students who have completed 5-8 books of a method series, or the equivalent, and are sufficiently independent to practice correctly at home. This is determined in consultation with the teacher. Piano Marvel is included in the tuition for all private students. There are various ways to individualize this program to strengthen a student’s skills.
45 and 60-minute private lessons are available for intermediate to advanced students who are serious enough about their piano studies to hone the technical and theoretical skills needed to take their piano playing to a higher level of expertise. Piano Marvel is included in the tuition for any private student who will benefit from it.
38 piano lessons per year are scheduled Monday—Thursday before and after school. Times are more flexible in the summer. See the calendar link on this website for the piano lesson schedule, holidays, make-up lessons, recital dates, etc.
